Summary

A hockey/fake date/not-quite-a-virgin very wrong romantic comedy

You know those stories where an adorably misunderstood clumsy girl needs a fake date to a wedding so she asks her brother’s best friend and they accidentally fall in love?

I wish that was the kind of life I lead, but it’s not。

I don’t need a date to a wedding。 I need a date to a funeral。
Clumsy sometimes fits, but then, that’s true for all of us, right? But adorable? No。 Misunderstood? Nope again。 I’m just your average girl, standing in front of a funeral invitation, asking it to be a winning lottery ticket instead。

And I don’t have a brother, or a best friend with a brother available, which means I’m stuck with Tyler Jaeger。

Sure, he’s a professional hockey player who also knows advanced calculus, but let’s say we’re not compatible and leave it at that。 I should know。 I am a matchmaker。

Not a very good one, but that’s beside the point。

I know a mismatch when I see one。

Still, Tyler’s what I’ve got, and I am not going to this funeral solo, so he’s what I’ll take。

After all—what could go wrong at a funeral?

I Pucking Love You is a hilariously wrong romantic comedy about the world’s worst matchmaker, a hockey player with a problem he doesn’t want to talk about, and an awkward date-of-convenience that everyone would prefer to forget。 It comes complete with a cat working his way through his nine lives, all the sexy times, fish and chips, and a swoony happily-ever-after。

This book was everything I didn't know I needed。 But Pippa's books are always like that。 This was the best gift to myself for a day long binge read。 Great characters that draw you in and all the feels。 I spent half the book crying both from laughter and from the emotions that the story brought out。 I love Tyler and Muffy。 Muffy is the girl inside all of us that just wants to be excepted。 And Tyler is the perfect man for the job。 Plus I got some Ares love too! Yet another FABULOUS read ❤️❤️❤️Tyler and Muffy’s story is so incredibly sweet。 These 2 are absolutely perfect for each other in the most imperfect way。 We also get to visit with our favorites from the Thrusters including the Berger twins。 And a quick visit from my absolute favorite couple, Eloise and Rhett。 Such a great read from cover to cover。 Cannot wait to hear what happened with Connor and Amelia!!!

The author Pippa Grant will tell you this book, can be read as a standalone。 She wouldn’t be lying but then again she wouldn’t exactly be telling you the whole truth either。 Pippa has gone out of her way in this story to prominently include so many characters from not only the other Copper Valley Thrusters books but also Daisy and West and the entire Jaeger clan from her book Crazy for Loving You in the Bluewater Billionaires series that I’m going to suggest that if you haven’t already, you read The author Pippa Grant will tell you this book, can be read as a standalone。 She wouldn’t be lying but then again she wouldn’t exactly be telling you the whole truth either。 Pippa has gone out of her way in this story to prominently include so many characters from not only the other Copper Valley Thrusters books but also Daisy and West and the entire Jaeger clan from her book Crazy for Loving You in the Bluewater Billionaires series that I’m going to suggest that if you haven’t already, you read them before you read this one。 I promise you it won’t be a hardship。 Daisy the do-gooder billionaire party girl is married to West Jaeger, Tyler, the male lead in this story’s older brother。 Daisy and West and the rest of the Jaeger clan are going to make enough appearances in this story that you’ll want to read their book。 This all starts with Royally Pucked, Manning and Gracie's story and then The Beauty and the Beefcake Ares and Felicity’s story。 Ares and his twin brother Zeus were both introduced in Mr。 McHottie their sister Ambrosia and Chases story in The Girl Band Series。 Eloise another member of the Girl Band series, The Hero and the Hacktivist, makes a cameo appearance near the end of this story。 Felicity and her brother Nick were first introduced in Royally Pucked, Gracie and Manning’s story。 In The Beauty and the Beefcake we are introduced not only to several more Thrusters including Tyler Jaeger who replaces an injured Ares in the Thruster’s line-up, but also Felicity’s BFF’s Kami, Maren and Alina。 Maren and Alina are now part of Muffy’s dating support group。 While Alina only gets a cameo, Maren has a significant presence in this story。 Kami, now married to Nick is Muffy’s cousin。 It is in their book, Charming as Puck, that we’re first introduced to her awkward cousin Muffy Periwinkle the med school dropout who now runs Muff Matches a dating service with successful matches as questionable as its name。 Still with me? I’m not suggesting you need to read all of these books before you read I Pucking Love You, although you’ll love them all。 I am suggesting at a bare minimum you read Charming as Pucked and Crazy for Loving You because the characters in those books have major roles in this one。Now I’ll talk about this book。 Pippa Grant is known for writing hysterically funny books and this book is no exception with crazy, loving friends and families, hysterical group texts and Rufus the cat who is even more awkward and clumsy than Muffy his owner。 What would a Pippa Grant book be without an outlandish pet? I have to confess that as a guy I found Tyler’s struggles with E。D。 equally funny and uncomfortable。 I found Muffy Periwinkle our female lead equal parts adorably funny and sad。 Sad because a lot of her funny is rooted in her insecurities。 Muffy is a naturally curvy girl whose parents constantly body shamed her。 She’s now estranged from her father but her mother whom she lives with continues to make cutting if unintentional remarks about her size。 After dropping out of med school in her final year and starting a struggling dating service she feels the only thing she’s good at is failing。 She has such low self-esteem that while she coaches her dating service clients who like her are socially awkward and not society's version of beautiful, that they are worthy of love and finding a man who will appreciate them for who they are, deep down she doesn’t believe she’s worthy of the same。 Her insecurities despite years of therapy, as much as her natural clumsiness and questionable decision making are a major component of this story。 Tyler and Muffy had become friendly acquaintances over the previous year。 Muffy was crushing on Tyler and wondering if he had similar feelings for her。 One night they bump into each other at the bunny club。 Why Muffy and her friend Maren are at a private club where hockey players go to hook up with puck bunnies is never explained。 They have sex in a walk-in refrigerator, if you can imagine that going down。 For a couple of reasons, the least of which is not the environment Muffy doesn’t find the sexual experience very satisfying。 Tyler who is a hit it and get out kind of guy never calls Muffy after that。 Since that’s the sort of no strings behavior his usual puck bunny sex partners expect, he’s clueless that he’s hurt Muffy’s feelings。 When they do run into each other after that its very awkward。 Gone is the easy smiles and banter。 But Tyler has another problem since his hook-up with Muffy。 The story opens with Tyler in a bedroom of the bunny club with Athena and Cassadie two attractive, highly intelligent puck bunnies (I’m at a loss to understand why supposedly intelligent women are intent on being hockey groupies?) who are ready and willing to have a threesome with the popular, handsome and intelligent hockey player。 But Tyler’s cock much to his embarrassment isn’t interested in coming out to play。 Tyler’s E。D。 problem began months ago after he had sex with Muffy so he’s convinced he needs to talk to and maybe have sex with her again to get back in the saddle。 He’s pretty certain she faked her O and his failure to satisfy her is at the root of his E。D。 problem。After an extremely embarrassing moment predicated upon a clear lack of judgement on her part, Muffy dropped out of Blackwell Medical School in Richmond and ran home to Copper Valley where with the financial support of her college BFF and now a doctor Veda she began her match making service。 She’s kept in close contract with Veda over the four years since she dropped out of med school but has never returned to Richmond。 When Veda’s father a doctor and professor at Blackwell passes and Veda asks Muffy to come to Richmond to support her during his funeral service she can’t say no。 The problem is this will cause Muffy to return to the scene of her greatest embarrassment where many of the faculty and her former classmates who know what happened will be in attendance at Veda’s father’s funeral。 Muffy determines she needs to bring a date to help shield her from the others scrutiny at the funeral。 More than that she needs some eye candy on her arm so she doesn’t appear so pathetic in the eyes of her former professors and her classmates who have now gone on to become doctors。 For this stories entirety Muffy really beats herself up over dropping out of med。 school failing to become a doctor。 If why she left Richmond is her greatest embarrassment, failing to become a doctor is her greatest failure。 Because she can find no other takers she reluctantly accepts Tyler’s offer to accompany her。 But she doesn’t tell Tyler the event she needs a date for is a funeral。 She also doesn’t know that due to a childhood experience Tyler doesn’t attend funerals and is traumatized by them。 This leads to all kinds of fun。 Tyler’s anxiety at being in a funeral home rivals Muffy’s at being back in Richmond。 There are several hysterical group texts messages between Tyler and his family。 Daisy his billionaire sister-in-law along with her husband, his much older brother West make an appearance in Richmond brining her own brand of insanity。 While in Richmond Tyler and Muffy both reveal their deepest most embarrassing secrets to each other。 They both begin to really see and understand each other allowing the feelings of friendship they once shared before they banged and then ghosted each other to reemerge even stronger, possibly becoming something more。 Muffy draws out Tyler’s protective instincts causing him to want to slay her every real and imagined dragon until she can see herself as beautiful capable and caring as he sees her。 Muffy stirs parts of Tyler's anatomy that have remained dormant since the lat time they were together。 Their transition from frenemies to live-in lovers is whiplash quick。 Both claim they don’t want to be in a relationship。 Although he won’t admit to it, Tyler because he’s twice been burned by women he thought he was in love with and Muffy because despite years of therapy, doesn’t believe she’s worthy of being loved for who she is。 Once Tyler determined to prove to Muffy he can deliver orgasms introduces her to the real joys of sex the previously sexually inexperienced Muffy is insatiable。 So there’s plenty of sex scenes in this story。 They’re both falling in love。 Tyler admits it to himself and even his closest teammates and friends, but is afraid to tell Muffy for fear he’ll send her running。 Because he knows Muffy doesn’t believe she’s worthy of being loved。 Unfortunately, this causes the always insecure Muffy who always expects the worst to happen to her, while loving every minute of her new relationship with Tyler, to be waiting for him to tire of her and her quirks and leave her like her father did her mother。 I suspect many women readers will be able to relate to Muffy’s mental gymnastics and tendency to over think everything in her relationship with Tyler, searching for hidden meanings in everything he does and doesn’t say, often coming to the worst possible conclusions。 While miscommunications and misunderstandings are a normal part of any relationship, IMHO Tyler is a real hero for his patience and determination in constantly talking Muffy off the ledge and showing her she is not only worthy of being loved but is loved by not only him but by all the people in her life。 It’s an uphill battle。 As with all Pippa Grant books somewhere mixed with all the funny and sexy is a modicum of angst and a lot of heart。 Enjoy! 。。。more

Loved This!I loved the vulnerability of the two central characters, Tyler and Muffy, in this humorous story with a real heart。 Pippa Grant has a real knack of combining the funny with a strong message, in this case accepting people as they are rather than what society might consider as desirable。 One of my favourite stories from her。

I think all of us are a bit like Muffy, a woman who suffers from serious imposter syndrome。 She never thinks she’s good enough, she thinks her business isn’t working, and the only thing she believes she’s good at is failing。 And oh my god, was she so endearing, I kind of wanted to give her a hug all the time and tell her it will be okay and you’re not the disaster you think you are。Enter Tyler, a Thruster’s hockey player and Muffy’s one-nighter。 Ever since he’s been having some issues。 Some very I think all of us are a bit like Muffy, a woman who suffers from serious imposter syndrome。 She never thinks she’s good enough, she thinks her business isn’t working, and the only thing she believes she’s good at is failing。 And oh my god, was she so endearing, I kind of wanted to give her a hug all the time and tell her it will be okay and you’re not the disaster you think you are。Enter Tyler, a Thruster’s hockey player and Muffy’s one-nighter。 Ever since he’s been having some issues。 Some very important issues。 And to fix them, he helps Muffy with a thing。 A celebration。 An event。It does not go well。From there, we see both commitment-phobe characters open up a bit。 Does it mean they want to be together? Nope。 Does it mean they’re lying to themselves? No doubt。Tyler Jaeger is my hero and my nemesis all at once。 As they get closer, Tyler wants to show Muffy she’s worth something, even if he totally。 Doesn’t want a relationship。 Seriously。I’m dating her。And if she doesn’t know it yet, that’s okay。 If she doesn’t want in yet, that’s okay too。But I will date her。I’m gonna date the s**t out of her。Muffy Periwinkle’s gonna know she’s worth something。Whether she likes it or not。I loved this, it was so cute。 Muffy was a great character。 She’s been floating around in the series for a while and it’s awesome that she’s finally gotten her own story。 Tyler’s also been around for a bit, and with him, we got to see more of Daisy and West from the Bluewater Billionaires series。 Seeing them again was definitely fun。 I love the call-backs in Pippa Grant’s books to her previous releases, and thanks to these two characters, there were so many old characters brought back in。Overall? Not as good as I hoped Hopeless Muffy is braver, smarter, and more courageous than she thinks。 Tyler has always thought she was special but he isn’t sure why。 Their story has many hilarious moments and one liners。 However, it’s a thin line between funny and obnoxious when the extended family is involved 。 Not best of the series but the worst either。
